About the books

I’ve been making dolls for almost 30 years, and I’ve been teaching the art of dollmaking for 20 of them. For this e-book course, I’ve brought together all my experience to create what I believe is the most complete, effective, and user-friendly dollmaking course available anywhere.

This isn’t a class designed to help you mechanically copy one of my dolls. It’s a comprehensive, 200-hour course of study that will teach you everything you need to know to create stunning, artistic, lifelike dolls of your very own design. You’ll learn about every aspect of dollmaking, including sculpture and painting, framework and body, wigs and clothes, and accessories and supports. You’ll also learn about things like design, color, texture, and stylistic cohesion, to help you approach dollmaking as a true artist. Each of the course’s 6 e-books includes hundreds of step-by-step photos, along with videos showing different stages of the dollmaking process in real time, without any editing, so you can see exactly how my dolls are made every step of the way. Virtually all the techniques taught in the course are my own, and you won’t find them in books by any other author.

By following these techniques, developed and perfected over decades of study and practice, you’ll be able to easily do what might have seemed complicated or even impossible before—even if you’re a beginner. In fact, each e-book includes a whole chapter devoted to common beginner mistakes, so you can check your work after every stage, keep progressing, and complete a work of art that will amaze your friends, your family, and yourself too. I’m so proud of this course. I put everything I know about dollmaking into it—from concepts to techniques to my own personal thoughts and feelings about the art, and even some amusing anecdotes from throughout my career.
